Common Ticketing and Version Control Lead
The DIRECTV Broadcast Systems Engineering group is seeking an experienced software engineer who will be responsible for implementing and managing a common ticketing and version control system for DIRECTV Engineering. The role will be responsible for creating a single ticketing system that will be accessible by all employees within engineering and operations and providing secure source code access to all software developers within engineering. The role is instrumental in increasing communication between engineering teams and facilitating reuse of existing code.
Set up the new common ticketing and version control environment
Oversee architecture of the entire system
Migrate existing systems to new central system
Provide first level triage of any issues encountered on the system
Define and maintain SLAs and processes for the system including server uptime and consistency
Set development guidelines for the system for any custom integrations or plugins. Work with development teams to adhere to the guidelines.
Review and approve the addition of all new plugins or custom development to the core system
Administer the system including but not limited to setting up new users, groups, projects, and configurations
Define the roadmap of enhancements for the system and socialize the roadmap with other teams
Manage the development for key system-wide customizations
BS degree in engineering and at least 5 years of experience in the area of systems engineering, integration, and test
Two or more years of experience in leading technical teams
Two or more years of experience with Jira and developing custom plugins and integrations with Jira
Two or more years of experience with Git. Experience with Atlassian Stash is a plus.
Four or more years of experience working with Linux, J2EE applications, databases/SQL, web applications, SOA/web services and mobile platforms
Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate technical issues and solutions to all levels of the organization
Excellent multitasking and time management skills with consistent attention to detail
Ability to clearly write technical documents
Proficiency in standard MS Office applications including MS Project
Good leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels
Ability to work in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
Ability to quickly learn and communicate value of new technologies to technical and non-technical audiences
Occasional travel may be required
